About Sweetfish Assist
Sweetfish Assist is an AI-powered clinical compliance tool for veterinary practices. It sits alongside the practice management system used by vets every day, analysing consultation records in real time and surfacing alerts when clinical protocols may not have been followed.
We've worked with Sweetfish from the very beginning, building the AI engine, the clinical interface, the admin portal and the public-facing website. It's a partnership that spans the full product: from the technology that powers it to the website that sells it.
The Challenge
Veterinary practices handle hundreds of consultations every week. Each one involves clinical decisions, treatment plans, medication and follow-up actions. In a busy practice, things get missed. Not through negligence, but through volume and time pressure.
The consequence is inconsistent clinical compliance. Best care protocols exist but checking every consultation against them manually is impractical. Practice owners and clinical leads have no realistic way to monitor compliance across their team without adding hours of admin to an already stretched day.
Sweetfish identified an opportunity to solve this with AI. A system that reads clinical records as they're created, understands what happened in the consultation and flags where protocols may not have been followed. Quietly, in real time, without adding any work to the vet's day. They came to us to build it.
What we built
Sweetfish Assist is a complete product spanning AI analysis, clinical alerting, practice administration and a public-facing website.
AI Clinical Analysis
An AI engine that processes consultation records in real time, understanding clinical context, identifying treatments and procedures, and comparing them against best care protocols. When something doesn't match, it flags it. No extra data entry, no manual review.
Clinical Popup
A lightweight interface that surfaces alongside the practice management system during consultations. It presents AI-generated insights to the clinician at the point of care, without disrupting their workflow or forcing them to switch between systems.
Admin Portal
A management dashboard for practice owners and clinical leads. View compliance trends across the practice, drill into individual consultations, configure protocols and manage team access. The data that was previously invisible is now visible and actionable.
Website
The public-facing website for Sweetfish Assist, built on our Ignite platform. A professionally designed, content-managed site that was live in weeks rather than months, giving the product a credible online presence from day one.
Discovery to delivery
We applied the same structured process to Sweetfish Assist that we use for all product development. Market research, user personas, competitive analysis, clinical workflow mapping. We worked closely with the Sweetfish team and spoke to vets, practice managers and clinical leads to understand the real problem before writing any code. The result is a product shaped by genuine clinical insight, not assumptions.
Built to integrate
Sweetfish Assist works alongside the practice management systems vets already use. We built the integration layer to be flexible enough to connect to multiple platforms, because locking into a single system would limit the product's reach. The AI engine, the popup, the admin portal and the website are all separate components connected through APIs, meaning each can evolve independently as the product grows.
AI that does a specific job well
The AI in Sweetfish Assist has a focused role: read a clinical record, understand what happened, and compare it against defined protocols. It doesn't try to diagnose animals or replace clinical judgment. It catches the things that get missed when a practice is busy.
This is what we mean when we talk about building AI products. Not general-purpose chatbots or broad automation, but systems where AI handles a defined task with precision and human oversight. Every alert Sweetfish generates can be reviewed, overridden or dismissed by the clinical team. The AI supports the vet. It doesn't replace them.
The Outcome
Sweetfish Assist is live and processing veterinary clinical records in real time. The product gives practice owners visibility into clinical compliance that simply didn't exist before, turning consultation data into actionable insight without adding any workload to the clinical team.
We continue to work with Sweetfish on the product, the platform and the website, evolving all three as the product grows and reaches new practices.
