About Bridewell Gardens
Bridewell Gardens is a mental health charity based in rural West Oxfordshire, providing a therapeutic environment for adults recovering from mental illness. Through structured horticultural activities, the charity helps individuals regain confidence, develop skills and take steps toward returning to work and everyday life.
Their existing website didn't reflect the quality of what Bridewell does. They needed a site that communicated their purpose, looked as good as their gardens, and could be managed by their small team without technical help.
The Challenge
Bridewell Gardens needed a website that served three distinct audiences: service users looking for support, volunteers wanting to get involved, and fundraisers looking to donate or partner with the charity. The existing site didn't clearly serve any of them well.
The design needed to feel warm and welcoming without being clinical or institutional. And the charity team needed to manage it themselves, updating content alongside their day jobs running the gardens, without calling a developer for every change.
"Appcentric quickly understood the purpose and values of our charity. They listened carefully to any feedback and made communication very easy"
- Ruth Madder, Director
"The project delivery was a success, but the real testament is the ongoing positive feedback from people using our website"
- Ruth Madder, Director
The Outcome
Bridewell now has a website that reflects the quality and warmth of their work. The design exceeded expectations, supporting all three key audiences to find information and take action, whether that's making a referral, submitting a volunteering enquiry or making a donation.
The team manages everything themselves through Umbraco, and we continue to provide ongoing support as the charity's needs evolve.
"They listened carefully to any feedback to make sure requirements were met"
- Ruth Madder, Director
